COVID & Responsibilities
MERCO Tribe has a deep-rooted sense of responsibility that it should help those less fortunate and actively lend assistance at every appropriate opportunity to do so. Contributing to local communities through charitable donations or other social initiatives is just part of the work carried out by the MERCO Tribe of Companies management and staff.
Some examples of our work are listed below
Always committed to social responsibility, MERCO made a generous donation to the World Health Organization in support of its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The WHO, which works worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable, is leading and coordinating the global effort, supporting countries to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic.
In support of those granting extraordinary powers and additional resources to battle the Australia busmercoires and help people rebound from their devastating losses, MERCO Tribe has made a charitable donation to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service directly benefiting volunteers fighting fires on the frontline.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) is the world's largest volunteer firefighting organization, providing fire and emergency services to approximately 95 percent of New South Wales.
In support of the indigenous efforts made to stop the fires in the Amazon rainforest, the “lungs of the Earth” as it’s often referred to, MERCO Tribe has made a charitable donation to The Rainforest Alliance, an international non-profit organization working to make responsible business the new normal.
Always committed to social responsibility, MERCO Markets attended a fashion show fundraising event run by the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society and made a generous donation to its charitable cause.
Established in 1971, the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society is a registered Charity Organisation that cares for people with cancer, supports patients' families and caregivers and also informs the wider public about cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and relief.
The MERCO Markets team made some kids smile and helped them celebrate the 2020 festive season in the best way possible. Toys and presents were donated to various charitable organizations and healthcare facilities.
These were the children’s ward of Larnaca General Hospital, the Convent of Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition, the Aradippou Mental Health Support Association and the Larnaca District Volunteerism Coordinating Council.
In line with its commitment to social responsibility and supporting charitable causes, MERCO Markets donated a significant amount to the Sophia Foundation for Children during a fundraising event and gala dinner held at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia. MERCO Markets’ management team was there to hand the donation to representatives of the Foundation.
The Foundation was established in 2008 by Cypriot volunteers and aims to contribute to the fight against poverty. It has focused on improving the nutrition, education, and medical care of children in Kenya. The Sophia Foundation also uses sponsorship money to support its work running the Makarios Children’s Home for orphans, which helps to break the cycle of poverty amongst some of the poorest children.
With more than 34,000 clubs around the world, its staggering 1.2 million members work tirelessly to combat hunger, provide clean water, eradicate polio, improve health and sanitation, and even support education and job training. For such a distinguished organization it was a clear choice for MERCO Markets to make a donation to help underprivileged people in the local community of Larnaca, Cyprus; where the MERCO Markets Europe Ltd's headquarters are located.
In honor of our generous donation a ceremony was held with the participation of the Cypriot minister for Communications and Works, Mr Tasos Mitsopoulos.
MERCO Tribe continues to reinforce the work done by leading international charitable organizations with its latest donation to UNICEF.
UNICEF is known all over the world for their work in the areas of:
